Light and crispy, with loads of chocolate flavor, say hello to the new classic chocolate chip cookie. This version comes along your keto diet in these keto chocolate chip cookies!
Hi, my name is Heather and I am an emotional eater. It used to be when life got stressful, I would turn to food for the comfort I needed. Eating food releases endorphins that can make us happy.
Unfortunately, for a lot of us, the need for those endorphins become an addiction. When stress of life hits, such as moving, relationships, or financial things, running to our old pal food happens a lot more. My personal “food drug” of choice was either ice cream or cookies. Especially chocolate chip cookies.
Living in 100 square feet of space with 5 adults for the last 4 months hasn’t been a picnic, to be honest. It’s been an emotional roller coaster every single day. From having to tear down our bed and put the mattress away so we can have our dining table, to having to position ourselves differently when someone needs to use the bathroom, to standing on opposite sides of the sink when washing the dishes, stress is the order of the day.
Light and crispy, with loads of chocolate flavor, the classic chocolate chip cookie comes along your keto diet in these keto chocolate chip cookies! #keto #lowcarb #cookies #chocolatechipcookies #dessertsWhat I am grateful for is a roof over our heads, the chance to practice real love and patience, as well as the opportunity to overcome turning to food for comfort. While I still crave those sugary cookies, now I can get my “fix” in a much healthier way.
Enter in the best keto cookies ever. You will love these low carb chocolate chip cookies.
What makes these cookies keto friendly?
They are made with gluten free almond flour, with lily’s chocolate chips. Take out the regular sugar that you would normally use, and substitute with powdered swerve, and you have a keto cookie recipe that is out of this world. And with less than 2 net carbs per cookie, you can eat 2-3 of them without feeling guilty at all!
Can I substitute coconut flour for the almond flour?
Coconut flour bakes up way differently from almond flour. It requires a lot more liquid and the amounts would not be the same. Therefore, I wouldn’t do a 1:1 sub on this. Feel free to try adding 1-2 Tablespoons of coconut flour in place of the almond flour if you want, though. Your results may be different, just to warn you.

Can I substitute coconut oil for the butter?
I have not had good results myself when I subbed coconut oil for butter in these keto cookies. I wound up with a nasty mess that was all over the place. If you need a more dairy free low carb cookie, I would try using cocoa butter first.
Other tips for making these low carb chocolate chip cookies:
- Make sure to mix the dry ingredients very well, so you don’t end up with clumps.
- Use wet hands to form the cookies. This will keep the dough from sticking to your hands.
- When baking, use either parchment paper or baking sheets for the cookies, to keep them from sticking.
- Allow the cookies to completely cool on the baking sheet before removing. They are very delicate and can fall apart when warm, but they will firm up quite a bit once they are cool.
- The recipe calls for a bit of heavy cream. You may or may NOT need to add it, depending on the humidity in your baking area. You want the dough to be on the sticky side to hold together.
